Community Code of Conduct

Effective date:
February 25, 2025

We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for individuals seeking holistic somatic therapy. With your participation, we can cultivate a meaningful, unique community experience with life-changing potential!

As a member, you are a co-creator, collaborator, and contributor to TBI Connects. In order to ensure a positive experience for all, we’ve established the following community guidelines and member code of conduct. By participating, you agree to adhere to these principles, which will foster a space for healing, personal growth, and authentic connections.

This is meant to be a living document, and informed by community feedback, formal education, and compliance with applicable regulations. Check back on this page and on community forums intermittently for updates to this Code of Conduct.

If you disagree with or refuse to abide by this Code of Conduct, we are happy to cancel your membership and refund you. Please write [email protected] for assistance.

1. Community Core Values and Principles

We agree to collectively and individually take responsibility for striving to embody the principles that taught through our shared time and experiences, while offering compassion for the imperfect human condition.

Given that we all come from different background with unique needs, The Body Intuitive outlines the following community guidelines and principles:

1.1 Respect
Treat others with empathy, understanding, and courtesy. Embrace diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs. Avoid assumptions or judgments about others’ experiences, and use language that promotes safety and inclusivity. Discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.

1.2 Ahimsa (Do No Harm)
Maintain a respectful demeanor when interacting with others. If we cannot sustain respect for someone, we can at least choose not to harm them. Recognize that each person's healing journey is unique. Our community aims to support one another without judgment or harm.

1.3 Integrity and Accountability
Act in alignment with your highest values. Embrace an evidence-based mindset, encourage the use of scientific research, and link back to studies or reputable sources when referencing therapeutic techniques, strategies, or interventions. Integrity means staying accountable to yourself and others, especially in the context of healing.

1.4 Communication Differences are Valid
Create a safe environment where individuals can be their authentic selves without the need to mask their inner worlds. Honor the unique communication styles of different individuals, such as direct vs. indirect, text-based vs. verbal, and info-dumping vs. small talk avoidance. Respecting these differences strengthens relationships. Practice using invitational and trauma-informed language where possible, especially as you learn about it within the group, and always be mindful of common triggers. Please use Trigger Warnings (TW) or Content Warnings (CW) when discussing sensitive topics, such as mental health, abuse, pregnancy, self-harm, suicide, and other sensitive or similar issues.

1.5 Sensory, Social, & Emotional Expression May Look Different
Recognize that some individuals thrive on high-energy social engagement, while others prefer structured, quiet, or asynchronous connections. There is no "right way" to engage in relationships. Understand that expressions of support, love, and care can vary, including through words, actions, information-sharing, or parallel presence (spending time together without direct interaction). TBI and its community can support a community member's needs by using preferred communication methods, adjusting sensory environments, or providing structure to improve connection.

2. Confidentiality and Privacy

This community is about practice, connection, and growth, not about highlight reels. Respecting others' privacy is essential. Many trauma survivors have experienced their vulnerable shares being weaponized against them. This behavior is considered abuse and will not be tolerated here.

  • Confidentiality: Do not share personal information about fellow members without their consent. Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared within the community and keep topics relevant to their respective threads. Use the designated modules and tags to organize content.
  • Respecting Privacy: If you wouldn’t want something shared publicly about yourself, don’t do it to others. This includes screenshots or personal stories.
  • Personal Connections: Always obtain direct consent before offering advice or connecting one-on-one with another member off-platform (e.g., through email, phone, or social media).

3. Fostering a Safe and Constructive Environment

Our community is designed to be a space for personal growth, empowerment, and healing. To maintain a respectful atmosphere:

  • Open Dialogue: Encourage open dialogue with compassion and understanding. Offer support and encouragement to fellow members and share personal experiences and resources that may benefit others on their healing journeys.
  • Constructive Feedback: When offering feedback, focus on the issue, not the individual. Provide solutions and be compassionate, recognizing that different experiences and perspectives can deepen our understanding and refine our healing approaches.

4. Prohibited Behavior and Reporting Violations

To maintain a respectful environment, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment and Threats: Any form of harassment, verbal threats, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Illegal Activities: Engaging in illegal activities or promoting harm to oneself or others is strictly prohibited.
  • Malicious Content: Posting false, defamatory, or harmful content undermines the community and will not be accepted.
  • Reporting Violations: If you witness any violations or encounter inappropriate behavior, please report it to the community administrators. Provide as much detail as possible to assist with resolving the issue. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent removal from the community.

5. Personal & Professional Boundaries Disclaimer

Your emotional well-being and self-care are your responsibility. The community is here to support you, but it is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical advice. If you or someone you know is experiencing severe trauma, avoid political debates or personal attacks, as they can further agitate and harm others.

  • Scope of Advice: Refrain from offering professional advice or diagnosing others. Instead, focus on sharing your personal experiences and providing emotional support. If you are uncertain about a health issue, always consult with a qualified healthcare professional.

6. Reporting Violations and Accountability

If you encounter issues with another member, follow these steps:

  1. Report the Behavior: Reach out to a moderator or administrator through private message or designated email.
  2. Provide Specifics: Include details about the incident to help us address the issue effectively.
  3. Trust the Process: Our team will handle concerns with care and discretion, maintaining a safe environment for all.

7. Posting Guidelines

  • 7.1 Conduct Expectations. When participating in forums and courses, you agree to abide by these posting guidelines:
    • You are solely responsible for the content you post. Ensure your contributions are respectful and accurate.
    • The community reserves the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines or is deemed inappropriate.
  • 7.2 Engagement Guidelines:
    • TBI is a secular and intersectional space. We do not affiliate with any religious or political organizations, yet welcome students from all religious and political backgrounds. We are proud members/allies of the LGBTQ+ community. No transphobia/TERFs allowed.
    • Pause and reflect before responding to others. If unsure about someone’s intention, respond with compassion and ask thoughtful questions. Be supportive and share your experiences and insights.
    • You may write to [email protected] if you have questions or concerns about anything posted or discussed in an online forum.
  • 7.3 Prohibited Activities

    • Harassment, threats, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
    • Engaging in illegal activities or promoting harm to oneself or others is strictly prohibited.
    • Posting false, defamatory, or harmful content undermines the community.

8. Crisis Situations

While this community is here to support each other, we cannot manage crisis situations. If you or someone you know is in crisis:

  • Contact Professionals: Reach out to qualified healthcare providers or call emergency services (911).
  • Build Your Support Network: Establish relationships with trusted friends, family, and professionals who can support you in challenging times.

9. Company Oversight

We reserve the right to monitor interactions and review posts to ensure compliance with these guidelines. Any content that violates the community standards will be removed, and actions may be taken if necessary, including potential removal from the community.
